Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) FAQs

Just a few common questions about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). If there is something else you need to know just ask in the Contact Us form below!

  • Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy painful for my pet?

No, the treatment is painless. The only sensation they feel is a slight pressure change in their ears, similar to what you feel when taking off in an airplane. We pressurize the chamber very slowly to allow their ears to adjust naturally (they usually just swallow or yawn to clear them).

  • How long does a session take?

typical “dive” (treatment session) lasts about 45 to 60 minutes. However, the total time is a bit longer because we spend time slowly bringing the pressure up at the start and letting it down at the end to keep your pet comfortable.

  • Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber safe?

Yes, when used by trained professionals, it is very safe. The chamber has multiple safety valves and is monitored constantly by our team. Because we are using pure oxygen, we do have strict protocols—no metal collars or synthetic bedding can go inside—to eliminate any risk of static.

  • How many Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatments will they need?

This depends on the injury. For a snake bite or acute swelling, 1 to 3 sessions might be enough to turn the corner. For a chronic, non-healing wound, we might recommend a series of 5 to 10 sessions to get the skin to close.
